CHAPTER SEVEN

Boris Takes a Fall (Into Log Hall)

Meanwhile, in the long grass at the edge of the Grove Hicky and Boris were about to put Eddy’s plan into action.

“Hold tight,” yelled Hicky flapping his wings frantically in an effort to get airborne. Trying to lift heavy Boris was proving more difficult than Hicky had imagined.

Slowly, little by little, they rose into the air. The pair listed badly due to Boris’ weight, but nevertheless up and away they flew.

“Not too high!” screamed Boris.

“Fine time to discover you’re scared of heights!” shouted Hicky. “We have to go higher so that we hiccup, will burp, not be spotted hic\”

They had covered about half the distance to Log Hall when Hicky began to feel very weak and tired. As the pair approached Log Hall the flying caterpillar began to feel completely drained.

“You, hic, weady?” gasped Hicky, “I can’t hold you much longer-my wings are giving up!”

Boris clung on with all his might as Hicky continued to tilt from one side to the other.

To make things worse Hicky was by now completely exhausted, he suddenly twisted and dropped Boris the spider into the darkness below. “Thaaaaanks,” yelled Boris as he fell.
